IA and UX. The IAI is planning a number of student-targeted initiatives
in 2011, and being part of the crew could make all the difference
between seeing change happen and making change happen.

The authors of this paper position pratice-led research (PLR) as an effective agent in the transformation of the seemingly inherent and natural acts found in casual practice into the formal arrangement of accepted truths and regulated practices of a discipline for user experience design (UXD) and information architecture (IA) communities of practice. The paper does not intend to exhaustively define discourse analysis, discipline practice or pratice-led research per se, but rather to introduce practitioners and the fields of UX and IA at large to the basic concepts of PLR so as to begin establishing discussion and awareness.

The grant will offer free registration to Europe’s Sixth Information Architecture Conference and up to 300 euros for travel costs to Paris, France for two successful applicants.

We encourage all female computer scientists interested in attending the conference to apply.

Two people will be chosen from the applicant pool to receive:

· Free registration for the main conference.  Accommodation not included.
· Up to 300 euros for travel costs from Google (given to the recipients at or after the event)

To be eligible for a conference grant candidates must:

· Be a female working in or studying Computer Science
· Maintain a strong academic background with demonstrated leadership ability
· Attend at least 2 full days of the main conference

How to Apply

To apply send, no later than August 20 2010, an e-mail to europe-events@google.com with the subject heading ‘Google Euroia 2010 Conference grant’ containing:
· Your full name and email address
· Current address, contact phone number and copy of photo ID
· Your CV
· 1-page statement (no more than 600 words) about why you wish to attend Euroia
· 2010 and why attending is important to your research and/or future career

Winners and claim process

The winners will be notified by e-mail by 30 August 2010.

If you are a successful applicant, you will be sent your free ticket and a payment form to expense your travel contribution, to be completed and submitted after the event.
